To move a user account using Active Directory Administrative Center

  1. To open Active Directory Administrative Center, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Administrative Center.

    Note

    Another way to open Active Directory Administrative Center is to click Start, click Run, and then type dsac.exe.

  2. In the navigation pane, select the node that contains the user account that you want to move.

  3. In the management list, right-click the user account that you want to move, and then click Move.

  4. In the Move dialog box, use the column explorer to navigate to and select the container to which you want to move the user account, and then click OK.

Additional considerations

  • You cannot use Active Directory Administrative Center to move user accounts between domains. To move user accounts between domains, use the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT).   • You can also perform the task in this procedure by using the Active Directory module for Windows PowerShell.
